How To Write An Engaging Book Review

A book review is basically a brief description of the book that entices readers to buy a book or simply ignore it. Writing book reviews is no mean feat. It involves various factors that need to be taken into consideration. If you have liked the book, you are required to justify it with relevant reasons and points for liking it. If you think the book is not convincing and engaging enough, you need to highlight the areas where you think the author has faltered. Book reviews are intended to help readers make an appropriate decision.

Video book reviews are fast catching up. You can make a video on YouTube and have it circulated. The power of online social media cannot be underestimated. Web savvy users like to look up the web for any information they want. We live in an era of instant gratification where people want everything at their disposal, at the touch of a button! They want things quick! This also includes engaging book reviews. This explains the sky rocketing popularity of video sharing websites like YouTube. As a matter of fact, the popularity of YouTube is growing by leaps and bounds.

Incidentally, there has been an increasing demand for children’s books like ‘Clouds’ and ‘My Little Red Book’. Animal books, computer books and educational books are also in great demand. You can choose from a wide range of all kinds of cheap books online. You can browse the web to know about a cheap discount book or a specific book on sale. However, make sure to read a relevant review that will help you make a well informed decision. Reviewing a book is no child’s play. The first thing that needs to be considered is the book you would like to review. You need to choose a book that interests you. Choose a theme or subject that is relevant to you. It is pointless to review a Science Fiction book if you can’t make head or tail of science fiction. So choose a subject that engages you and interests you.

In order to agree or disagree with the author's point of view, it is a good idea to jot down notes while reading. Jotting down small notes will help you review the book easily. It will also help you with quotes in your review. You should be able to understand the author’s thesis and style. Focus on his style of writing- is it formal or informal? Another important aspect about book reviews is the accuracy of the information presented in the book. Is the information relevant, accurate and engaging? Are the concepts well defined? Is the language used lucid and convincing? You need to ask yourself these questions. Look for footnotes- they should provide significant information. Also look for maps and illustrations wherever necessary.

When writing book reviews, make sure to include the following elements- title, author, publication date, publisher, edition, pages, price and ISBN. Make your opening sentence striking and convincing. It should immediately catch the attention of readers. Be fair and unbiased! You can also include information pertaining to the author’s qualification, reputation, etc.

Ryan Lee's A Day In The Life of Death: A Behind The Scenes Look At The Mortuary Business is an in-depth consumer guide to help individuals save thousands of dollars in final expenses. Though it portrays the grim theme of death, it provides a multitude of special and unique ways to truly honor your loved ones. Beneath the "hype of the television sensationalism, sterile financial journals or newspaper headlines to discover what really happens in the funeral home," there is a cloak of secrecy in the "death care industry." In other words, the public does not fully know what goes on behind the scenes, and oftentimes it doesn't want to know. A Day in the Life of Death is the first of its kind, and there's no one better than Ryan Lee to write this book. Lee is a graduate of the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science and Chapman University. He has been involved in the funeral industry since his late teens and has nearly a decade of experience. Lee answers questions such as, "What is learned in mortuary school?" and addresses such issues as how to embalm a body, whether one should pre-arrange his/her funeral, and the different types of funerals and final services that are available. Throughout the book, Lee paints an honest picture of life as a mortician; however, Chapter 12-the last in the book-is one of the most genuine and intriguing chapters in the entire book. Titled "The days we wish we were somebody else," describes in sometimes agonizing detail the harsh realities of a mortician's daily life. Ryan Lee describes the sometimes-gruesome details, however, the point this author tries to make is, "the mortician is the one who has to live with the damage left behind by death." This book has all the answers to any questions you may have about the mortuary business, or the death care industry-a thoroughly educational read.
